Happy Thanksgiving

Well, can you tell this guy was trying to make you laugh enough so that you didn't invite him to be the MAIN guest to your Thanksgiving Dinner? Since it is the day before our sacred TURKEY DAY (I'm so getting my grub on!) I thought I'd shed a little light on the origins of turkey and Thanksgiving.

Thanks to Wikipedia (us College students' savior) I got the 411 on Thanksgiving Dinner:
- President Lincoln nationalized Thanksgiving in 1863
- Turkey only became the center piece after 1800
- 1857: Turkey FINALLY became a staple in New England
- Thanksgiving dinner similar to Christmas dinner
- TURKEY, TURKEY, TURKEY!
- Alternatives: goose, duck, turducken (Links to Wiki's thoughts on this newly formed creation), tofurkey (Links to Wiki's explanation of this... delicacy).

And for you cooks out there, take this story into thought: Last year my aunt visited for Thanksgiving and helped cook dinner with me and my sister. Well my sister and her put the turkey in - and I was the one helping her take it out. When we took it out she said "I KNOW this bird had wings and legs! Where did they go?" We thought we had a defective bird! Then she realized it was UPSIDE DOWN when we cooked it. Made for some delicious white meat. *hint* *hint*

HAPPY TURKEY *GOOBLE* *GOOBLE* DAY!
